1. Weather Conditions During Setup
Hazard: High winds, rain, or extreme heat may affect safe installation.
Risk: Inflatable may become unstable; danger to staff or property.
Controls:- Check weather forecast 24 hours in advance.- Do not erect inflatable in winds exceeding manufacturer limits (usually 24mph/38kph).- Use additional ground anchorage in mild adverse weather.- Cancel/reschedule in unsafe conditions.
2. Electrical Equipment
Hazard: Electrical shock, fire risk, or trip hazards from cables.
Risk: Injury to staff or guests; damage to equipment.
Controls:- All equipment PAT tested regularly.- Use RCDs (Residual Current Devices) on all mains connections.- Secure and cover all trailing leads.- Keep power sources away from water.- Hirer must ensure the blower is covered during rain using the black cover provided and demonstrated during
setup.
3. Flashing/Moving Lights
Hazard: May trigger seizures in individuals with photosensitive epilepsy.
Risk: Medical incidents among guests.
Controls:- Use of flashing and moving lights may affect individuals with photosensitive epilepsy.- All necessary warnings regarding lighting effects are contained within this risk assessment.- Guests should be informed at the time of booking about the presence of flashing lights.
4. Smoke Machine Use
Hazard: Poor visibility; potential respiratory irritation.
Risk: Tripping or panic due to reduced visibility; discomfort for sensitive individuals.
Controls:- Use water-based, non-toxic smoke fluid only.- Smoke fluid is filled during setup — users do not need to refill.- Guests may only operate the smoke machine using the provided remote control.- Control smoke levels to ensure visibility is not overly compromised.- Display warning signage for asthma sufferers or those with respiratory issues.
5. Ropes & Anchoring
Hazard: Tripping hazard or improper anchoring may lead to instability.
Risk: Guests or staff may trip over securing ropes; inflatable may move in wind.
Controls:- All ropes to be flagged or cordoned off with high-visibility markers.- Anchors inspected before and during event.- Only trained staff to handle setup and takedown.- Hirer must check all anchors remain in place throughout the event.
General Controls- First aid kit available on-site during setup and takedown.- First aid provision during the event is the responsibility of the hirer.- Staff briefed on emergency procedures.- Regular inspection during event.- Public liability insurance in place.
Emergency Protocol – Deflation
If the BlackHaus inflatable nightclub begins to deflate due to a power cut or damage:- Evacuate the inflatable immediately in an orderly manner.- Do not attempt to reinflate or inspect equipment yourself.- Contact BlackHaus Events Ltd immediately for assistance.
Inflatable Nightclub Structure Guidelines- The blower must remain on at all times to keep the structure inflated.- No naked flames or smoking within 20 feet of the BlackHaus inflatable.- Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the inflatable nightclub.- If wind conditions cause the inflatable to move excessively, evacuate BlackHaus immediately and contact
BlackHaus Events Ltd for removal.
Operational & Liability Terms- Any spillages must be cleaned up immediately to prevent slips and falls.- No liquids or drinks are to be placed near any electrical equipment.- The sound system is loud – ensure volume is kept at a safe level to protect hearing.- Neighbours should be informed prior to the event – any complaints are not the responsibility of BlackHaus Events Ltd.-
Injuries resulting from failure to follow this risk assessment are not the responsibility of BlackHaus Events Ltd.- Any damages or losses are to be covered by the hirer.- The £100 security deposit does not represent the full cost of potential damages.- Legal action may be taken to recover any losses; all associated costs may be charged to the hirer.- By hiring BlackHaus, you agree to all terms outlined in this risk assessment.
